The Judy A Saslow Gallery is particularly honored to present this collection of art from the estate of John N. Stern. John Stern was an attorney, philanthropist, and art connoisseur. Mr. Stern served on the visiting committee and board of the Smart Museum of the University of Chicago. Named a life trustee, he gifted the museum two works by John Storrs, one of Chicago's most important early modernist artists. Mr. Stern was also a board member of the Ravinia Festival and the Museum of Contemporary art, and a governing life member of the Chicago Orchestral Society and the Art Institute of Chicago.

In addition to showcasing the John Stern Collection, the gallery is also offering at a deep discount works from various artists it has represented in the past. Please come and see for yourself some incredible pieces at unbelievable prices! Help us to clear out our back room!!!

ATTENTION! ATTENTION! THIS DEAL ENDS SEPTEMBER 4th!!!
On August 2nd, we slashed our already-reduced prices dramatically! Come in and save on a fantastic piece of art, and build your personal collection. After 15 years in business, we need help clearing some valuable art out of our backroom. This is a Win-Win situation: we get more space and you get a great deal on a treasured work of art!

Upcoming Exhibition

Innocence Revisited:
Featuring Artist Rebecca Kinkead and moments of human connectivity.

The Judy A Saslow Gallery is proud to introduce artist Rebecca Kinkead to the Chicago public. The beauty of Rebecca Kinkead’s work is revealed through her personal technique, plus her portrayal of the collective human experience.

Kinkead is a composer of personal recall and borrowed memories, transmitting ambiguous dreamy figures intended to encourage the viewer, to remember and apply their own history to each piece. These calm moments of shared experiences allow us to feel united through feelings of anticipation, innocence, triumph, and tenderness. Kinkead uses a layering and tearing-down process using paint and wax allowing the composition to emerge slowly, as the memories wash over the audience. Figures ripen into being as if nurtured by a primal stew of color and texture. The paintings possess a multi-dimensional quality that reflects the artist’s original training as a ceramicist. She continues to be inspired by her rural Vermont surroundings, where she lives with her husband and their four dogs.
